Leave it to me to try and find the most irritatingly hard-to-find item for my home, be it olive pillows and blankets, or, in this case, a three-piece bistro set for my small dining area. For under $300.
Enter Wayfair. I debated a long time before ordering. Reviews on certain items were pretty horrific, detailing damaged items and poor quality. The dining set I wanted, by Monarch, was $165 on sale. (Note: Walmart has the same set for $200. Both had free shipping.) It’s one of those website where everything seems to be on “sale” for 20-60% off.

The ordering process was easy, and I paid via PayPal. I prefer this method because of the buyers protection, but I mean, YOLO, right?
Oh no, I just said YOLO.
Anyways, it arrived via UPS two days ahead of schedule. That’s pretty sweet. Plus the delivery guy took pity on my (lack of) size and carried it up three flights of stairs. He’s my GD hero.
Assembly was only moderately frustrating; one bolt didn’t match the others, but I haven’t bothered to ask them to send me another one yet. The quality was alright - one seat chair was a little off-center, the paint was a little uneven and it’s textured, not smooth. The parts didn’t line up perfectly. It was also marked in a few places with someone sort of orange residue, but I’m trying not to question what it was, and it cleaned off okay. That might sound like a bloody nightmare, but it’s really not that noticeable. You won’t sit down at it and say, “well this was obviously less money than I spend at the Sawmill for two people to eat steak.”
I wasn’t balls deep in an instruction manual, praying for a quick death, nor any nightmares about having to reassemble it because I put it together backwards. (I see you, my pine Ikea dresser, and I know what you did. I know how you tricked me and I know it every time I open a drawer.) The glass top is thick and sturdy. It’s a great size for two people. Well... not that I often have a guest. (No judgement allowed.)
It was $165. I really can’t complain, and I think it looks pretty good. It’s a solid frugalista win.
